Questions from our customers

We get asked many questions from our customers – here are a few favourites... with our answers.

What is ghee?
Ghee originated in India many centuries ago, and is a type of clarified butter. Butter is simmered until all the moisture evaporates and the milk solids begin to brown, giving the resulting ghee a nutty, caramel-like flavour and aroma. It has a long shelf life and a high smoke point, making it practical for high temperature sautéing and frying.

Do you mail overseas?

Where can I purchase your products?
You can purchase our ghee range from our online store on this website. We regularly attend local Huon Valley and Hobart markets and are progressively adding to our list of stockists – mainly speciality food stores and other food retailers. Stockists are listed on this website as they become available.

Are your products 100% natural?
Yes, all of our food products are 100% natural – no artificial flavours or colours, no preservatives, no GMO. They are not hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is a chemical process used in some margarines and cooking oils which can result in trans fats which are not good for health and may put people at risk from increased cholesterol, heart disease and even cancer.

Is your butter organic and sourced from grass-fed animals?
Yes.

Can ghee replace the vegetable oils I am cooking with?
Yes. Ghee imparts a delicious flavour to your culinary endeavours and has health benefits. It is 100% natural, is fine for high temperature cooking, and has not been subjected to harmful production processes. Unlike other cooking fats such as beef dripping, lard and duck fat, ghee is vegetarian friendly.

Do I have to refrigerate your ghee?
After opening, store in a cool, dark place below 25°C. You only need to refrigerate at higher room temperatures.
